Neither La Plante or Mays like the English and in particular Lord Mycron, who doesn't like either of them. Administrator Bratley doesn't like any of them, but needs them to thwart the Cursed threat and keep the money moving, it is by his efforts that this assortment has been assembled.
The community as a whole does not like the Event Mermaids, but here it is the principal game piece upon which the fleet strategy hinges.

Strategy:
Opt to go second, even if rolled to go first. Next, place home islands close together if possible. Reveal Mermaids and freeze the Executioner of the challenge fleet on turn one.
While the Executioner is frozen, double team the Monkey's Paw, using extra actions from Lord Mycron as needed, either to close distance or to send a second shoot action. The Paw will not be able to benefit from the cannon bonus of Devereaux as the Executioner will not be able to fire on any of my ships for 3 turns. Boarding the Monkey's Paw should be avoided but it the above does not go entirely to plan there are two options if the Monkey's Paw is to be boarded.
1. Intrepid goes first with a ram+shoot, Mays will protect the crew from the white crew, so a loss is not as damaging as it could be.
2. La Char uses Guy la Plate to S-board the Paw after it has been attacked by the Intrepid, Guy will disable the boarding bonus from Sammy the Skull, which will greatly improve the odds in the Char's favor.

The Monkey's Paw doesn't need to be sunk, just dismasted. If that happens within the 3 turns the Executioner is frozen, the guns will then turn on her, taking any advantage while the Executioner is unable to respond. Executioner has an oarsman and so should be sent to the locker.

The fleet looks for a victory not based on gold but based on being the only fleet left, victory condition #3 in the Pirate Code.

If somehow the above does not happen and the fleet is forced into a gold strategy, the Intrepid should be the ship to explore islands, as Mays will also protect the crew from Cursed Natives. Once explored and UT's dealt with, the Char can scoop up any remaining gold on the same island.
"}
