When his lover, a powerful necromancer, couldn't bring their child back from the dead, the man who would become the Drown'd King went mad with the need to conquer death, binding his lover in chains and casting her into the depths as sacrifice to Nagash. Instead of making him immortal, Nagash stripped the flesh from him and his crew, tore their ship apart, and damned them to roam the seas forever in ethereal form.
