The Great Bombard was a massive 15th-century Ottoman siege cannon. Built in 1464 by the engineer Munir Ali, it is one of the largest and most destructive early gunpowder weapons ever created, designed to smash through impenetrable medieval fortress walls. In 1807, during the British Royal Navy's failed Dardanelles Operation, Turkish forces loaded these ancient relics with 750 lb stone projectiles and successfully fired them at the British fleet, severely damaging six ships
