(Born c.1611- Died c. 1656) Not much is known about the early years of Dixie Bull, save that he entered into an apprenticeship as a Skinner in 1627. Emigrating to the then named Massachusetts Bay Colony circa 1630, whereupon he was given land to settle and ply his trade. Sailing between the bay colony and modern Maine, he was attacked by French privateers who confiscated his ship and all his wares. Returning to Boston filled with a vengeful spirit, he would charter a new ship and crew and took to raiding up and down the New England coastline from 1631-1632. His claim as the "Dread Pirate" came as a result of his raid on the Settlement of Pemaquid in which he sacked the town, making off with a small fortune and disappearing from authorities and records until 1648.
