| While this equipment is loaded aboard a submarine, the submarine may conduct a special ram attack while submerged. Measuring from the front edge of the submarine's baseplate, roll one d6. On a 1, remove a segment from the submarine. On a 2-4, the torpedo fails, resulting in no effect. On a 5-6, remove one mast from the targeted ship, replacing it with a firemast. The firemast functions as per Firemast rules. Then remove the Spar Torpedo equipment from the game. | |

| As far back as 1810, inventor Robert Fulton wrote about the potential to steathfully deliver an explosive charge unto an enemy force. Now, with the dawn of the submarine, this explosive charge at the end of a long lance, or spar, is fit and ready to fulfill its duty. Albeit, there is a certain amount of risk with this device, that few choose to willingly discuss. | |

Additional notes
This equipment was directly inspired from the events of the H.L. Hunley attacking, and sinking the USS Housatonic, with the caveat of allowing for the attacking unit to potentially survive. Though theoretically this equipment could be used by any naval unit, these rules gave submarines a needed utility boost.
