Using the salvaged hulk of the scuttled USS Merrimack, the Confederate forces have constructed a large, steam powered ironclad-casemate, featuring a large prow ram fitted to her bow. CSS Virginia may look odd with her sloped iron plated superstructure and gunports, but her combat potential is soon to be demonstrated in full effect against the Union blockade at Hampton Roads.
