Records of what has become of the "Ion," now L'ion under French ownership after her sale in 1844, are somewhat scant. What is known is that she received another refit in which, she was armed with somewhat heavier armament as well as strengthening to her hull and rigging at the cost of cargo capacity. She is also known to be based out of the Caribbean port of Guadeloupe for the remainder of her service, moving men and material between the various French ports in the Caribbean, South America and the African continent.
